From the JPDYSC Charter:

Purpose of this Committee: The JPD-YSC exists for the purpose of fostering community, spiritual growth, leadership development, and social action experiences for high school age youth. We aim to provide a pleasant environment for the free and open exchange of ideas and concerns, and a common ground for liberal thought. Support, acceptance and understanding are essential to the community spirit that exists in YSC and in its YRUU programming throughout the JPD. It is the intent of our Steering Committee to provide opportunities for developing and maintaining friendships and fostering communication with our peers and with adults. We realize our commitment on all levels: local, district, and continental. We express concern for our fellow human beings through education and social action experiences. In our worship we celebrate our community of shared being and belief.
